Accountant

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for gaining hands-on experience performing accounting work that requires the application of accounting theories, concepts, principles, and standards to the internal financial management of the Farm Credit Administration (FCA). Duties include:
Gaining knowledge of accounting principles and standards to recognize and measure revenues, automated accounting systems, internal controls, and general business practices to evaluate financial data and transactions. Gaining knowledge of budget principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Learning effective verbal and written communication skills and practice active listening and reading comprehension; Expanding their exposure to working professionally in a team environment; Learning time management skills and how to organize tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of work products; and Learning to achieve task and assignment objectives within established deadlines and keep project leaders, supervisors and other personnel informed of progress and any impediments to timely completion of assigned activities. All qualification requirements, including completion of education, must be met by the closing date of the job opportunity announcement. For those using Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) to qualify, GPA requirements must be met by time of application submission. 1. ELIGIBILITY FOR PATHWAYS RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM To be eligible for this position, you must be a college graduate from a qualifying educational institution with an undergraduate and/or Master's degree (see required fields of study noted in 2 below), within 2 years of being awarded a bachelor's or graduate degree from a qualifying education institution. Students scheduled to receive their qualifying degree (see required fields of study noted in 2 below) no later than June 1, 2020 are also eligible. Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have as many as six years after degree completion to apply. 2. TO QUALIFY AT THE VH-34 (GS-07 equivalent) BAND LEVEL, in addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the VH-32 (GS-05 equivalent) band level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate that you meet following:
1) Providing support with the reviewing and analyzing of financial data to ensure accurate financial reporting; 2) Providing support with the analyzing of financial data to identify/resolve accounting issues; and 3) Applying professional knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles and practices in order to promote the use of proper accounting procedures and methods. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
