Summary:
As a team member in our Alternative Investments practice, you will assist in providing tax compliance & consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.
Job Duties:
Tax Compliance:
Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual ( TQM )Applies understanding of client s unique set of circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure that the client is in full compliance, while keeping the client s tax and reporting burden s as low as possibleEnsures all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected; identifies and properly communicates missing items to prepare returnUtilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in tax prep processEffectively teams with Partner, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates on completion of project (follow-up with Open items list)Delivering high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance servicesLeading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals Managing the engagement, including billing, collections, and the budget for projectsBuilding and managing client relationships; assist in developing new clients and opportunitiesEnsuring/Documenting client work and conclusions in the client tax fileTax Consulting:
Identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategiesSupervisory
Responsibilities:
Managing teams of Managers, Tax Seniors, and AssociatesQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting or other relevant field required Master s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
Experience:
More than six (6) years of prior tax experience, requiredFinancial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds including:
Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, preferred Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships, preferredLicense/Certifications:
CPA or Licensed Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent, requiredCFP or Masters in Tax, preferred Software:
Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat, preferredExperience with tax research databases, preferredProficient in tax compliance process software, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Solid verbal and written communication skillsAble to follow instructions as directed by members of Tax TeamTakes appropriate actions without being askedSeeks advice of appropriate superiors regarding issues, problems related to complianceIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
California Range:
$146,000 - $200,000Colorado Range:
$120,000 - $185,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:
$140,000 - $120,000Washington Range:
